Varoufakis: Solution is “visible” provided creditors want one

The Greek FinMin wants income redistrubtion and an agreement that deals with debt, unemployment and recession

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, speaking to Kokkino radio station ahead of the May 11 Eurogroup meeting, said that “the government has done what is humanly possible.” He stated his optimism for a “visible” solution as long as there is “political will from the side of the creditors.”

He made it clear that “the government is not going to sign an agreement without a perspective of exiting the crisis, an agreement that would not deal with the major issues of debt, unemployment and recession.”

He stressed the need for an income redistribution policy that would shift the burden of the crisis from the shoulders of weaker groups. He reiterated the government’s intent to find a solution within the coming days.
