Clashes in Israel and Gaza continue for a third day, with shelling taking place in both Israel and the Palestinian territories.

In fact, after 12 noon there was a barrage of rocket attacks from south to central Israel, including Jerusalem.

Israel’s emergency services said a “massive rocket barrage” had begun from southern to central Israel. It is not yet clear where the rockets were fired from, although Israeli media speculated that they came from the Gaza Strip.

“In response to the recent red alert sirens heard throughout Israel, emergency teams have been dispatched to reported affected areas,” it said in a statement.

The country’s national emergency service also reported injuries in Ashkelon and Ashdod from rockets hitting buildings. Three were injured in Ashkelon, including a 75-year-old man who is in serious condition. In Ashdot, there are several injured, including a 50-year-old woman in serious condition.

According to Haaretz, Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallad, said: “I have ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip. No energy, no food, no gas, everything will be blocked. We fight human animals and act accordingly”.
