Woman, 20, knocked out a would-be mugger in Crete (photos)

Dimitra sustained a broken nose

A young female martial artist from KO’ed a would-be robber when he attacked her friend in Heraklion, Crete.

The incident occurred last Friday afternoon, around 17.30, in the central market of Heraklion, Crete when 20-year-old Dimitra Sakadaki was going for coffee with her friend, who was ahead of her while talking on the phone.

Suddenly a man, around 40, attacked Dimitra’s friend and tried to snatch her bag.

Dimitra, who is a connoisseur of martial arts, confronted him and attempted to immobilise him. A fight ensued, with the man and Dimitra exchanging blows, but the young woman managed to finally subdue him by delivering a blow to his jaw which left him unconscious. Police forces rushed to the spot almost immediately.

The would-be mugger was arrested and is being held at the 1st Heraklion Police Department. During the fight, the 20-year-old suffered a broken nose and was transferred to a private medical practice for first aid.
