71,000 farmers face enforced bank account seizures for arrears

OGA owed 745mln Euros in debts

71,000 farmers face the threat of their bank accounts being seized due to outstanding debts to their pension fund ‘OGA’. According to a report by newspaper ‘Ethnos’, the total debt owed to the pension fund by 350,000 farmers amounts to 754mln Euros, 71,000 of them placed on a ‘black list’ of overdue payments over 5,000 Euros, after being repeatedly warned to settle the outstanding amounts. The debtors are sent a notification informing them to settle their arrears, and if they do not comply within a certain period, the procedures of enforced payment through the seizure of their bank accounts is enacted.
