897 professions no longer need permits

The new rules mean less hassle and paperwork for Greek businesses

Development Minister Costas Skrekas announced that the Greek government is scrapping permits for 897 professions accounting for 14.3% of the GDP. Mr. Skrekas believes that this new law would save businesses three months when starting up as it would allow them to submit their papers to the General Commercial Registry (GEMI) and follow set regulations rather than go through a separate, more timeconsuming process, to get permits.

Industries in a number of industries will benefit from the new rules.
