Australian Archeaological Institute to conduct exclusive tour to Greece

The itinarary includes important archaeological destinations such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Zagora and Torone.

The Australian Archaeological Institute of Athens (AAIA) will conduct an exclusive tour to Greece in September, according to an article by Neos Kosmos newspaper.

During the 17-day expedition the travelers will have the opportunity to visit several areas and learn about the fieldwork undertaken by Australian archaeologists in Greece since the 1960s.

The itinarary includes important archaeological destinations such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Zagora and Torone.

The tour will last from September 19 until October 3, 2015 and it will be led by two Australian archaeologists, namely Helen Nicholson and Archondia Thanos.

The Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens (AAIA) is one of the seventeen foreign archaeological institutes in Greece. Founded in 1980, it aims to promote Greek studies in Australia, as well as to enable Australian scholars to engage in archaeological fieldwork in Greece. The Institute has been involved in projects in excavations at Torone (Macedonia), Zagora (Andros), and in the Paliochora survey (Kythira).
