Bulgaria to raise a fence along its border with Greece and Turkey

Due to the measures taken in the Aegean Sea, traffickers are focusing now on the Turkey-Bulgaria-Western Europe route

The government of Bulgaria is planning to raise a fence along its border with Greece and Turkey to prevent refugees and migrants fleeing war from entering the country, as German newspaper Bild mentions.

According to a report conducted by GASIM, the center of joint analysis and strategy of irregular migration, due to the measures taken in the Aegean Sea, traffickers are focusing now on the Turkey-Bulgaria-Western Europe route.

Bulgaria is considering to build a fence along the Greek-Bulgarian border at least in some parts, while it also considers to raise more fences along the country’s border in the summer of 2016.
