Voluteer runners try to raise awareness for children cancer

Nearly 250 marathon and long distance runners will take part in the 34th Athens Authentic Marathon, scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 13. In an effort to raise awareness and funds for children suffering from cancer, long distance volunteer runners from the Pan Hellenic Parents’ Association of children with cancer “Floga” will also join in Sunday’s race courses, which include 5 and 10km side runs. The volunteers of “Floga” will be wearing t-shirts with the special Floga symbol siring their run to send a message that cancer can be defeated and to raise support for the “Floga” house that hosts children suffering from the disease. The team of runners is made up of amateurs, friends of and volunteers of the Floga association, parents of children, as well as professional runners who have taken part in many long distance events and marathons both in Greece and abroad.
