Crunch time: ‘Brexit’ or ‘Bremain’. Latest polls

Latest polls show camps split down the middle

Newsroom June 22 08:26

24 hours before the crucial UK referendum that will determine whether the country will remain in the EU or opt to go its own way, the latest polls show a dead heat, while 10 per cent of those asked are still undecided.

According to website ‘WhatUKThinks’, which published the polls of four pollsters, the results indicate 51 per cent are in favour of Britain remaining in the EU, against 49 per cent who think the country should leave. The website explains that it factored in six surveys from the four companies, Yougov (online survey), Survation (phone survey), ORB (phone survey) and Opinium (phone survey), all of which were conducted between June 14 and 20.

Opinium’s last minute results, done on a sample of 3,000 voters, show that 45 per cent are for ‘Brexit’, compared to 44 per cent who are in favour of leaving the EU. Meawhile, UK PM David Cameron along with other politicians, movie stars, celebrities, sports figures are all throwing their weight behind the ‘Bremain’ camp in a last ditch effort to swing the voters to support their positions. The British press has come out openly with opinion pieces on the referendum, with ‘Times’, ‘Mail on Sunday’, ‘Daily Mirror’, ‘Financial Times’, ‘Observer’, ‘Guardian’ all backing ‘Bremain’. On the other hand, tabloid ‘Sun’, ‘Daily Mail’, ‘The Daily Telegraph’, ‘Sunday Times’ explained why it would be better for the UK to leave the EU.
