German Finance Ministry: No decision on 2nd review at next EuroGroup meeting

There is progress in talks, but not sufficient to expect deal

The German Finance Ministry reiterated its position that the participation of the IMF in the Greek bailout program was imperative. During a regular press briefing, a Ministry representative said that there was progress in talks between the institutions, adding that there was some convergence. She underlines, however, that the talks have gone so far as to expect a final decision on the completion of the second review of the Greek program during Monday’s Eurogroup meeting. The Greek economic crisis has resurfaced following the failure by the embattled county’s creditors to agree on the path forward, with the IMF questioning the targets set in the program by European partners for Greece, while pushing for a debt haircut, something the Germans rule out.
