German minister visits Greece to help Greece deal with its problems

Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier is on an official visit to Greece to discuss the refugee issue and the third bailout program for Greece.

A meeting with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos at 1 p.m. and PM Alexis Tsipras at 1.30 p.m. is part of efforts to help Greece find a solution to its problems. Steinmeier is also holding a discussion with Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias.

“A close cooperation between Greece and the EU is necessary on the migration issue as well as a close cooperation with Germany,” says Mark Schaefer, a spokesman of the German Foreign Minister.
