Greek Football Federation President resigns

He will not be allwoed to stand for October elections

The President of the Greek Football Federation (EPO), George Girtzikis has stepped down, after mounting pressure from ruling European body UEFA, and the pending court case against him over his involvement in the football health card in 2015. Girtzikis, who handed in his resignation, is the 6th member of the board’s federation to depart. It was essentially the only option he had, as if he had refused to do so, he would have been forcefully replaced by the General Secretary of Sports. Girtzikis will not be allowed to stand for the Federation’s elections scheduled to be held in October.
