Greek hotels to offer bike friendly services

Hotels must live up to specific criteria

Company “NATTOUR” will begin the process of labelling bike-friendly designations to Greek hotels and accommodations in conjunction with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN). Greek hotels and various accommodation types that uphold a set of specific criteria will be awarded the “Bike-Friendly” label, allowing them to highlight their bike-friendly status on their websites and promotional material. The basic criteria oulined include: A map of the region, or a free service, in electronic or printed form, with suggested bike-friendly paths; a secure closed area for storing bikes during the travellers’ stay, or collaboration with a storage room, as well as cleaning services; the availability of bicycle tools, with free service to bicyclers; daily laundry and drying services with charges according to accommodation policy; collaboration with local bike rental and repair services or the ability for travellers to rent a bike from the Municipality or a BikeSharing system; the ability for bike travellers to book a one-night stay. Many hotels and accommodations types have already expressed interested in receiving the new label, while the two first hotels of Porto Carras, “Meliton Beach” and “Sithonia Beach” have already been awarded the designation.
