Greek Universities drop in global rankings due to lack of funding

Only 3 universities in top research institutions

The latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) list on global university rankings reflects the dire state of the Greek education, as 5 out of the 6 Greek tertiary institutions have dropped a number of spots on the list. The British company that evaluates and ranks universities around the world based on a number of factors has dropped the universities of Crete, the National Metsoveio Polytechinc, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The reason is that they are failing to attract new researchers from abroad due to a lack in funding on programs. The University of Crete is no longer considered among the top 200 research institutions, while it dropped out of the overall top 600 universities.
