European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans and Commissioner Johannes Hahn were negotiating with the Turkish authorities through the whole night and there is a good possibility for success, stated European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker during a joint press conference with Parliament President Martin Schulz in Brussels.

Mr. Juncker added that he will be briefed in detail regarding the progress of the discussions among Turkey and the Commission’s representatives so as to inform the European leaders at the EU Summit

“There is nothing positive and final for the moment, however the talks are on the right course,” he said.

Schulz and Juncker stressed the need for member states to fulfill their obligations regarding the management of the refugee crisis on financing and staff level.
