French newspaper Le Monde presents the Greek crisis through an exploration into the life and times of the Patatopoulos family. The clip shows the changes in the life of a typical Greek family since 2010.
Alexis Patatopoulos, a public sector worker, saw his monthly salary of 1,400 euros slashed to 900 euros. His wife, Sofia, was forced to shut down her small businesses due to being charged excessive taxes, however she cannot even receive employment benefits. Their son, Pericles, is just another 25- to 35-year-old still living at home though he is luckier than most because he is employed in the private sector. Pensioner George had his 1,250-euro pension reduced to 980 euros.
