The Turkish ship approached the island of Farmakonisi and from within the Greek Territorial Waters began training with live ammunition!
The Greek General Staff is monitoring the situation and a Hellenic Navy ship has been deployed to the area.
According to a press release by the Hellenic National Defense General staff, the Turkish Navy released a NAVTEX in the very early hours of the 16th of February about a gunnery exercise inside Greek Territorial Waters. The Greek authorities issued another NAVTEX that canceled the Turkish one.
The situation is alarming as Turkey seems to be testing the limits of the Greek patience.
