NGO pro-refugee solidarity groups at the port of Piraeus are obstructing the orderly departure of refugees and migrants to the hotspot of Skaramanga, by attempting to take control of the procedures. Understaffed port authorities trying to board refugees and migrants onto buses waiting to transport them to reception centres across Greece, came up against persistent members of NGOs who were directing the refugees according to their schedules and lists, ignoring requests by the officials authorities to avoid involvement. Tensions eventually rose with NGO members and coast guards scuffling over who is in charge. A female member of an NGO stopped a bus that was full of refugees demanding the people on board be checked according to her list. Coast guards quickly intervened and removed her. Earlier another NGO female member stood in front of a bus calling on refugees to stop so that she could record their experiences.
