Pet custody law in Alaska for divorced couples…

“Who takes the dogs?”

A useful legal tool or maybe Political Correctness gone wild? Whatever the case may be, it is a fact that Alaska now has a law that may help divorced couples decide who is going to keep the family pets…

According to the new law the judges are obligated to look into the custody of not only the children of the family but also of the pets if there are any. The law recognizes the pets as “property”, however, the judge must be interested on their well-being after their owners separate.

Animal welfare organizations have applauded the new law, as they were lobbying towards such a direction for a while.
