Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is on an official visit to Cyprus. He arrived at 10 a.m. on Monday and is currently meeting with Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades.
“This is my first (official) visit (as Prime Minister) abroad and it is no coincidence that it is taking place in Cyprus. My presence symbolizes our struggle for a just solution to the Cyprus problem, a priority for us,” he said. “Hellenism needs to gain strength to demand its rights.”
Anastasiades said that Tsipras visit to Greece was an honor for Cyprus and said that a spirit of collaboration would ensue.
Following his visit to the presidential mansion, Tsipras will lay a wreath at the Tomb of Makedonitissas and at the “Imprisoned Graves” accompanied by Cypriot Defense Minister Christoforos Fokiades. He will also meet with the Archbishop of Cyprus and with a committee of the relatives of missing persons and NGOs.
