Relentless flow of refugees continues in Greece

More than 13,000 people are stuck in Idomeni, while European leaders are planning to announce the closing of the Western Balkan route

Newsroom March 6 09:15

Refugees and immigrants continue to arrive in Greece, while the situation in northern Greece’s border remains chaotic. EU Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos stated on Saturday that about 100,000 immigrants and refugees will enter Greece until the end of March.

In the meantime, the Austrian newspaper Der Standard revealed that European leaders are planning to announce the closing of the Western Balkan route at European Summit to be held on Monday.

The Austrian newspaper claims it has seen a draft of the communiqué which states that the Western Balkan route will immediately shut down and Europe will provide the necessary support to Greece to deal with the refugees and immigrants to be stuck in the country.
