The Bookwave initiative is aimed at encouraging young readers

Books are being gathered from November 14-21

‘Bookwave 2014’ is collecting books for primary school and kindergarten libraries on November 14-21 at the Benaki Museum on Pireos Street. This year marks the second ‘Bookwave’ following its successful launch last year. The initiative bids to encourage children to acquire better reading habits.

Bookwave accepts new or nearly new books donated by the public, in an action sponsored by the Bodossaki Foundation and organised jointly with the Benaki Museum. ‘Bookwave’ collects mainly for schools in Attica, while schools in other regions are supplied by the non-profit company Library4all, that is involved in education, life-long learning, artistic expression and culture.

Last year’s ‘Bookwave’ collected 6,000 books and assisted 134 schools in Attica. More information is available on the website: http://www.bookwave.gr/support_bookwave/
