“The US administration has a stable policy: the essence of each agreement for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia must come from the sides. We will continue to support both sides and the European Union as broker of this dialogue. Kosovo and Serbia need to come up with an applicable and sustainable agreement which does not cause instability in any of the countries or the region. This requires vision and flexibility by both sides. We encourage the sides to take full control of the process, avoid any negative rhetoric and work together in a constructive way”, the statement says.

The talks between Kosovo and Serbia are expected to resume in September. These talks are expected to lead to a binding agreement for the normalization of relations between the two countries. However, it is not clear how this agreement will be, while the sides have been suggesting the division of Kosovo or territorial exchanges, where Serbia would be given the north of Kosovo, while Kosovo would be given Presevo Valley.
