“Dueling interviews” were on the “political menu” Tuesday evening, with PM Alexis Tsipras going out of his way to gingerly describe his recently resigned FinMin Yanis Varoufakis, whereas the latter appeared in a live web interview charging that creditors’ goal was to “subjugate” and “ridicule” the SYRIZA government.

The outspoken and — according to critics — brash Varoufakis, vilified the agreement that was finally concluded on Monday morning after 17 hours of negotiations at a Euro summit.

“My view of the summit is that it comprises a direct attack on the credibility of the EU; on the ideal of European integration. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I was reading it: how European leaders could proceed with an assault on Europe in such a short period of time. It’s a ridiculous text,” the self-described “erratic Marxist” told an interviewer on the alternative media site “thepressproject”.

The Essex University-educated Yan_is said he hasn’t read the entire text as yet, adding, however, that”I will not vote for it, unless there are certain changes that will make me think about it. I will discuss it with my comrades, Eucleid Tsakalotos and Alexis Tsipras. I have a moral responsibility not to hurry. Calm is necessary,” he said amongst many, many other things in the more than two-hour interview.
