Why is Greece the only country where the Star Wars launch is being delayed?

Greeks left out in the cold… again!

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is released for the UK and the US on December 17, but the Greek release date is December 24. This means that Greek fans will have to weight an additional week before they get to see the next installment of the fantasy series. Understandable, this has caused fans consternation so Dimitris Kalogirou started a petition asking distribution company Feelgood Entertainment to change the release date so that Greece is not the only EU country facing the delay. In most countries in the world, except China and India, fans will see it on December 17.

Greek fans suspect that the reason for the delay is to promote the home grown production of Christopher Papakaliatis film “World’s Apart”, but Star War fans say that the films are different as one is a romantic drama centered around Athens and the other is a mega epic in a fantasy far far away!

You may think that an extra week isn’t that big a deal, but fans state that there will be thousands of spoilers hitting the web as soon as the film is released spoiling the excitement for Greeks.
