A large wildfire has been burning in the area of Partheni on the island of Leros, since 8am in the morning, Monday. The island’s Mayor has requested for immediate aerial extinguishing assistance to contain the rapidly spreading flames, as the fire is threatening residential areas. The island of Leros has little fire fighting means to deal with large scale blazes.
