A small, densely planted mobile garden which can be also used as a bench allowing passersby to rest “sprung up” in the center of Thessaloniki.

This is the first “Green Spot”, placed at the edge of Paleon Patron Germanou Street, in a controlled parking zone.

The rationale behind the idea of «green spots» is that they are going to be transferred regularly and, depending on the location where they are moved, they are going to be renewed with seasonal plants.

The purpose of these small mobile gardens is to provide an “oasis” within the city and transform the urban landscape into something special, bringing the residents closer to nature.

The idea was based on the successful example of «parkmobiles» of San Francisco. In Thessaloniki, the idea is part of a wider campaign under the title «React Now 4 Thess», implemented by the Directorate of Urban Environment Management of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the costs are covered by sponsors.
