The important Belgian choreographer and dancer Michèle Anne De Mey and the award-winning film-maker Jaco Van Dormael present their work Kiss & Cry – Νanodanses (2011), a dance spectacle in miniature, as its alternative title denotes, that tests the boundaries of both dance and cinema.
What we see is just the dancers’ hands and fingers in a set taken straight out of childhood memories-train sets, craft projects, tiny dolls’ houses and landscapes covered with snow. The dancing hands emerge as the ideal narrators of a tale of love and forgetting: a woman recalls her past, people who loved and loved her before disappearing from her life.
Microcameras film and project this miniature, magical, choreographic world onto a big screen, stimulating a visual and emotional awakening in the audience.
On Friday 2 May an after performance talk will take place with the participants of in “Kiss & Cry”.
