Vasilis Tzortzatos, who is imprisoned from 2002 to Korydallos prisons, said that the terrorist group “17 November” had tried at least 5-6 times to attack former Minister of Finance , Yannis Palaiokrassas , but the operations were canceled because either there were other people in the car or there were passengers by at Nikis street and Karagiorgi Serbia street.

The imprisoned member of “17 November” organization, in a letter published in the newspaper “Eleftherotypia”, reveals what happened before and after the attack of 14 July 1992, during which Thanos Axarlian was killed.

As he says, the organization had set two prerequisites for the attack against Palaiokrassas: “First, there would be no other person in the car along with the minister and secondly there would be no pedestrians on the sidewalks of Nikis street to Karagiorgi Serbias.”

However, as he states in his letter, these two prerequisites were not followed by some members who decided to press the button even though there were people walking there.

In his letter it is also mentioned that “The third partner who was already standing on the pavement asked the person who pressed the button “Why did you press the button? There were other people, too who are now covered with blood”. He replied: “There are collateral damages.” That memebr had also told to the others that his family was pushing him to leave for vacation. So, they had to do it today and get over with it!
