On Monday morning the candidate for Regional Governor in the Central Macedonia Markos Bolaris and the candidate for Regional Vice Governor in Thessaloniki Mrs. Chryssoula Paliadeli met with the Bishop of Thessaloniki Mr. Anthimos. The Bishop gave Mr Bolaris his best wishes for a successful outcome in the elections for the region of Central Macedonia and thanked Mrs. Paliadeli for the book with maps of Macedonia which she gave him.
The need to promote the Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki was the main topic of discussion between the Bishop of Thessaloniki, Mr Bolaris and Mrs. Paliadeli. The head of the independent self-governing movement ‘Simmeteho’ stated that “it is necessary to develop synergies between the Central Macedonia prefect, the municipality of Thessaloniki and the Church, in order to promote the enormous wealth of the Byzantine heritage of our land. We must join forces in this direction. We propose the implementation of an international cultural program that connects the cities visited by the Apostle Paul. Apostle Paul’s journey will be the thread connecting these places and promoting our Byzantine monuments us”.
