A collection of ancient coins was hidden in the home of a 52 year-old who was arrested in a village near Drama by Police, accused of violating the law on protection of antiquities.
Officers who searched the home of the offender, after a tip-off, discovered a total of ten coins which were subsequently examined by an archaeologist who found that they are actually within the confines of the legal violation. They were seized and sent to the Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities organization of Kavala.
During the operation for tackling crime throughout Laconia, an Albanian national was arrested in Githeio, who had in his possession 21 ancient coins and four ancient items which were identified as clothing accessories. The foreigner was escorted to Githeio, while the objects were delivered to a competent archaeologist.
