Thirty – five thousand visitors flocked to the Tae Kwon Do Stadium in Paleo Faliro, gracing with their presence Art-Athina, the International Contemporary Art Fair of Athens which begun on May 15 and ended on May 18. The public response has exceeded even that of Art-Athina 2013, which was considered one of the most successful events in the history of the fair (it attracted 30,000 visitors).
The new turnout record increases the expectations of the organizers, who hope that in the next few years, Art-Athina, one the biggest art events in the country, will become an institution in Southeastern Europe.
45 galleries (30 Greek and 15 foreign) participated in this year’s ART-Athina, along with distinguished art theorists, curators and important guests, including six collectors from Turkey. The versatile and rich program which included “Contemporaries: Statement Made” and “Platforms Project @ Art – Athina 2014”, curated by Artemis Potamianou impressed the art lovers.
