The priest at a church in the centre of Munich in Germany asked the little girl if she wanted to be baptised and when the girl said “no”, he decided to halt the ceremony.
The incredible incident was brought into public attention through a video that was uploaded on June 25 on YouTube by an unknown user. The video shows the priest, Archimandrite Petros Klitsch of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Germany. who is clearly annoyed, asking little Lydia whether she would like to be baptised.
When the little girls replies negatively, he asks her again, only to receive the same answer. Then the priest tells the parents: “I’m sorry, we can’t go on with the baptism. I told you so.”
He then asks the girl for the third time. She refuses again and then the priest departs, leaving the parents and the guests attending the ceremony speechless.
This video has already caused many reactions as there are many who argue that the priest should continue with the ceremony while others agree with his decision by saying that a 3-year-old child is old enough to express its view.
As it is mentioned in the comments under the video, Lydia was finally baptised by another priest.
