Measures of 33 million euro and the allocation to Member States, which the Commission announced earlier, caused strong reactions.
At a meeting in Brussels today by the experts of the Member – States of the EU and examined the measures of the European Commission for peaches and nectarines which essentially provide:
* Financial assistance of 29.7 million euro for producer organizations and individual producers for withdrawals (free distribution, composting, etc.).
* Special support of 3 million euro for promotional activities. The amounts allocated to the following four countries: Greece 317.000 euro, Spain, 1,13milion euro, Italy 1.28 million and France 262.000 .
In what concerns specific promotions, the Greek delegation disagreed with the proposed allocation and asked to redefine the criterion amounts to the share of each country’s exports to Russia and not on the number of producers and the level of total production, used by the Commission.
Finally, according to the Ministry the Commission announced that they are “preparing a new Amending Regulation, to reflect comprehensively the consequences of the Russian bans but also to improve parts of the regulation adopted”.
