A mini-heatwave with temperatures reaching up to 40C is expected throughout Greece over the weekend while on Monday, the temperatures will return to more normal levels.

Specifically on Saturday, temperatures will range from 16-33C in northern Greece, 23-36C in the central and south parts of the country, 19-33C in western Greece, 24-32C in the Cyclades and 25-35C in the east Aegean islands and Dodecanese.

The weather service also warned of low wind speeds and high humidity in certain areas, resulting in higher discomfort.

Maximum temperatures of 36C are forecast in northern Greece, 36-37C in western Greece, 39-40C in Attica and eastern mainland Greece and 35-37C in the islands.
