The highly regarded Greek singer and composer Antonis Vardis died yesterday after losing his battle with cancer.

Except from a talented man, he was a lovable person and Greece mourns his death.

Many celebrities and ordinary citizens have expressed their condolence since yesterday morning, when his death was announced.

His son’s goodbye, though, was the one that touched everyone’s heart. Yannis Vardis chose to say publicly his farewell to his father yesterday.

For him, Antonis Vardis was not just a father, was “the best friend”, “my rock”, “my life”.

In 135 words Yannis Vardis tried to thank his father for everything he taught him and as he said “you are now my angel and I carry you with me because I’m what you wanted me to be”.

“I am you, with all your flaws, as you used to say! You are my God … I love you!” Yannis Vardis wrote.
