58-year-old Deborra-Lee Furness, a producer and director of short and independent films, has been married to famous Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman, 45, for almost two decades. The pair met in 1995 and nowadays they split their time between the United States and their native Australia, along with their two adopted children, Oscar and Eva.

However, in a recent interview with the Australian Woman’s Weekly, the talented director and ambassador for the streamlining of international adoption laws revealed that there is something that bothers her regarding the way people view her happy marriage.

More specifically, she said that she is tired of people calling her lucky for being married to one of the hottest men in Hollywood.

‘That to me is a putdown. It’s like you suggesting I won the chook raffle,’ she said in her candid interview.

Furness is annoyed by the fact that many people believe that her lifestyle is the result of luck, as she believes that every individual ‘creates their own destiny’. ‘If you want something, you put it out there with good intention and you realize it,’ she said.
