The 2014 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition held by the Natural History Museum of London (NHML) and the BBC has a young Greek finalist in the under-10s section whose photo was selected from 42,000 photographs submitted from 96 countries. The shortlist will be on display at the NHML from October 20, 2014, through to August 30, 2015, following an award ceremony on October 21 presented by David Attenborough.

“The Watchful Cheetah” was snapped by Greece’s 8-year-old Leon Petrinos, a young Greek shutterbug, whose work will be featured at the Natural History Museum of London (NHML) along with another 100 winning photos. The image of the female big cat peering through the grass at the Maasai Mara reserve in Kenya got the young boy into the BBC and NHML’s under-10 category for the best Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
