39 year old Romanian truck driver Nikolai Toudoran insists that the problem on the brakes occurred long before the pileup point.

The investigator and prosecutor decided after the plea of the 39 year old truck driver on Thursday morning, of his imprisonment, facing charges of manslaughter and a series of bodily harm.

However, the Romanian driver shocks with his statement that he saw a warning sign for the immobilized cars ahead but he didn’t understand it because it was written in English.

According to information, he insisted that the problem on the brakes occurred long before the pileup point. His lawyer supported that the driver became aware of the problem on the breaks five km before the pileup point.

At the same time, the Romanian indicated that the warning signs miles before the pileup point were adequately implemented.

It is worth noting that the 39 year old had only a three year professional driving experience, while the truck was a 2007 model and recently checked.

His lawyer expressed on his behalf his deepest consonances to the families of the five people that lost their lives, since the arrested could not approach the journalists due to the strict security measures.

Finally, according to law sources, the charges that the tuck driver faces have a six month limit of imprisonment, which could be extended for three more. After the maximum nine months of imprisonment and if the case does not go to court he will be set free.
