Alternate Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Nikos Tagaras said on Friday that building permits are to be issued across the country electronically as of January 2, 2014. There will be a common data base for the electronic system to issue building permits for new constructions as well as for the Electronic Identity of Buildings he said.

Initially, the new system will go into effect on a pilot basis in Athens, Piraeus, Corinth, Heraklion, Chania and Komotini as well as at the ministry’s department that approves big projects.
