Beach fun without worrying about valuables

A Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot join forces to solve an age-old problem that beachgoers have.

Newsroom October 27 12:07

27-year-old Greek Cypriot Kyriakos Savvides and 33-year-old Turkish Cypriot Tolay Celebi patented a beach safety box that they hope will put an end to beachgoers’ age-old problem of not knowing what to do with their valuables while enjoying a day at the beach. The two men created Safey that is attached to an umbrella or other permanent fixture and locked by a key that is carried around in a patent granted key holder. The sturdy box is spacious enough to fit valuables so that beachgoers can enjoy a swim without having to keep an eye on their belongings.

The safety box is practical, easy-to-use, withstands rain and is fully customized in any color so that it can double up as an advertising tool. Safey is already proving popular on beaches in Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria and Hawaii.

Mr. Savvides and Mr. Celebi received an award for bicommunal business partnerships by EasyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou for their patented safety box earlier this month. They are already planning to expand on the safety box idea by adding a flexible plug and play solar panel so as to tap into clean solar energy.
