An “Interview” opinion poll published in newspaper Eleftheros Typos that was conducted on behalf of Vergina TV shows that 57% of voters want the Parliament to elect Greece’s next president “for the good of the country” while only 37% are in favor of early elections.
The poll gives the main opposition Coalition of the Left SYRIZA 28.8% support, a 2.9% lead over the conservative New Democracy (ND) party that leads the coalition government with 25.9% support. The socialist PASOK party’s popularity has plummeted to 5.1% while Potami follows with 5%. The Greek Communist Party (KKE) has 4.5%, 3.5% for fascist Golden Dawn, 3% for Independent Greeks and 1.3% for the Democratic Left.
The same poll however puts Prime Minister Antonis Samaras popularity at 39%, 7% ahead of main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras when it comes to suitability for premier.
