The 4th Greek Jazz Panorama, a cycle of events that will take place from December 12-14, will once again offer Jazz fans the opportunity to enjoy creative encounters between jazz musicians from Greece and abroad.
For the fourth year running, the OCC will be hosting for a series of concerts with Greek jazzmen, including veteran Floros Floridis, young up-and-comer Nikos Anadolis, and creative Petros Klampanis.
Floros Floridis / Paul Lytton / Phil Wachsmann
12 December 2014 – 21:00 Upper Stage
A veteran of the avant-garde scene in Greece and beyond, Floros Floridis’ career covers a great deal of ground in both contemporary music and free improvisation. From the historic double-album Improvising at Barako’s he recorded with Sakis Papadimitriou in 1979 to his collaborations in Berlin and elsewhere over the last decade with musicians including Αkira Ando, Günter “Baby” Sommer, Michael Griener, Jan Roder, Olaf Rupp and Chris Dahlgren, Floridis has never stopped experimenting and blazing new trails in contemporary European music.
Nikos Anadolis
13 December 2014 – 21:00 Upper Stage
Aged just 23, and with a distinction from Berklee in Boston and a prize at the “Martial Solal” international jazz piano competition held every four years in Paris under his belt, Nikos Anadolis is poised to blaze a trail that’s all his own on the world jazz scene as a professional musician and the leader of the trio with which he will be performing at the OCC.
Petros Klampanis & Contextual
14 December 2014 – 20:30 Main Stage
Petros Klampanis uses two catchy, Greek-flavoured tunes–the ‘Thalassaki’ and the ‘Hariklaki’–to communicate directly with both a Greek audience, which is always flattered when a Western jazzman references the popular and traditional music of their homeland, and with an international public, which has a liking for attractive and exhilarating exotic, eastern sounds!
