Thessaloniki’s new pavement, known as Nea Paralia, is part of a wider plan aimed at upgrading the coastal road of Thessaloniki just under the White Tower. The new beachfront paved road that takes 45 minutes to walk through was created last year, and some residents from the region decided to celebrate with a musical route. The musical walk began from the Water Garden to the umbrella sculpture with the Paranue band and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

The people taking part in the walk held up umbrellas, symbolic of an intent to keep the new construction clean.
