Santorini lodge in the 24 Unique Lodges of National Geographic (photos)

National Geographic Society has dynamically ventured into the hotel business with a new boutique collection of 24 handpicked lodges that it describes as the “concepts of dreamers” rather than “simply hotels”. The lodges have been carefully selected for their imaginative design and surrounding cultures and ecosystems. The only lodge that has been chosen in Europe lies on the Greek island of Santorini and is known as the Kapari Natural Resort.

Three Australian lodges were picked and three in South Africa with the National Geographic team visiting each property to ensure that each one embodies “the values National Geographic and our travellers hold close”. Every lodge joinin ghte Unique Lodges network was thoroughly “vetted for its commitment to sustainable tourism, authenticity, and excellence in service.”

Sources state that National Geographic will engage in advertising activities with the properties as part of its launch.
