Marine Le Pen, president of far-right party National Front (FN), met with French President Francois Hollande today, while the controversy over the participation of the party in Sunday’s large demonstration to honor Charlie Hebdo victims, is still raging.
During the meeting at the Champs Elysees palace, which took place during Hollande’s consultations with all French political leaders, Le Pen asked the French President to take various precautions in response to the blood attack on Wednesday, including France’s exit from Schengen.
According to Le Pen, “we must find ourselves in a position to respond to the war declared by Islamist fundamentalism”, argued the party’s president and added: “The first thing we need to know is who we are fighting against. We fight against an ideology of Islamist fundamentalism. To not say it, is already evidence of weakness”.
