New pieces of evidence emerge from the appalling Germanwings tragedy.
According to “Bild”, the 28-year-old pilot kept trying to get the pilot out of the aircraft’s cockpit, in an attempt to lock himself inside and proceed with his deadly scheme unencumbered.
As reported in the newspaper and in line with the audio transcripts recovered from the black box, Lubitz was particularly insistent in his efforts to drive the Captain out of the cockpit.
In particular, he reminded him that he needed to go to the WC, something which Captain Sonderheimer himself had stressed prior to the plane’s take-off from Barcelona. When Lubitz finally got Sonderheimer to exit the cockpit, he immediately locked the door manually and set the auto pilot altitude from 38,000 to 100 feet.
