Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis announced from Beijing that the port authority tender — which entered the last stages of awarding prior to the Jan. 25 election — would continue, causing reactions from ruling SYRIZA’s leftist wing.

According to Reuters on Friday, Dragasakis was quoted by Xinhua as saying the port tender would be finalized in a few weeks.

He added that Chinese multinational Cosco, considered amongst the favorites to assume the controlling share of the port, has tabled a competitive bid.
