The European Commission has tabled formal accusations against Russian corporation Gazprom on matters of violating the anti-monopoly legislation.
According to the Financial Times, this is a serious development in the Commission’s four-year-long investigation against Gazprom, which has caused the Kremlin’s serious ire.
The Gazprom case follows the recent Google investigation which “hit” last week.
European investigators blame Gazprom for abusing its position of power in the natural gas market of Eastern Europe, and setting “much higher prices” than the cost or the free market’s price ranges.
The investigation also states that Gazprom is illegally preventing gas wholesalers in eight countries in Eastern and Central Europe from providing their services.
