The latest instance of an alcohol-fuelled sex crime was reported in the party resort of Malia, near Irakleio, Crete, as an 18-year-old British woman accused two compatriots, both 20, of raping her after she passed out.

The woman appeared at a local police precinct days ago to make the accusation, saying she did not consent to have sex with the two men.
Both British nationals were charged with sexual assault, although an investigation is continuing.

Drug and-alcohol-driven party “enclaves”, mostly catering to young adults and even older teens from Britain, have in the past generated headlines, with a handful of deaths reported, along with varying levels of lewd and often violent behavior. One such previous notorious resort was Faliraki, on the island of Rhodes. Others are Malia and Kavos, on Corfu. Greece is not alone in hosting such resorts, with Spain and Thailand coming to mind for wild party resorts.
